Abstract

This study deals with a fundamental problem about the transformation towards smart cities for sustainable development, by examining the characteristics of smart cities as one of the innovations of the information technology era, and linking the characteristics of these cities and achieving sustainable development. The study will address the most important concepts related to smart cities, their advantages, and their relationship to sustainable development, and conclude the most important mechanisms that can be applied in transforming existing cities into smart cities through smart governance and smart society, And a model study of smart sustainable city: Dubai
